We
seek to be with the Lord Jesus. In our seeking we enter into different
forms of private prayer and make time to be with other believers in
liturgical celebrations. We are often able to find the One we seek in
such activities but there are times when we do not. Such "moments
of absence" do not necessarily mean we are doing anything wrong.
We may be doing all we can.
Today's
reading reminds us that the presence of Jesus Christ is often hidden
from us. Although it is indeed important that we enter into private
prayer and communal celebrations, there is no guarantee that the "hidden
presence" of the One we seek will be made known through what we
do. What is important is that we enter into such activities, no matter
how absent or dry they may seem at the time. Part of our faith is a
willingness to go to where the Lord may reveal himself. We do not have
control over such revelation. It is, however, important to our faith
that we go to where he may be found.
Prayer
Lord God, through your Son, you
reveal your presence with me. Help me to persevere in my attempts to
be with him so that I will find him when his presence is revealed to
me. I ask this in the name of Jesus, my Lord.
Remembrance
Today I will remember how important
it is for me to enter into those activities where the Lord my be found.
