Lenten Reflections
On Our Side
PASSION SUNDAY

Reading: Lk 23:1-49

Reflection:

"What do I need to do to get God on my side?"
"What can I do to get God to answer my prayers?"
"What prayers can I offer so God will work for me?"

Whether or not we are comfortable with the way of God works in our lives and in the world, or whether or not we like the answers we receive to our prayers, are not the issues addressed by the passion narrative. The primary issue and main point of our reading is to show that in what Jesus Christ did in his passion, the Lord our God reveled himself as already being on our side.

Like the first disciples of Jesus, it will take time for us to really recognize and appreciate God's saving activity in our midst. Like the first disciples, it will take time for us to learn how to pray. As we struggle with our faith and with life in general it is important to remember that no matter how difficult or painful the experiences may be, God is still on our side. God is with us in all we experience!

Prayer

Father, through the passion of your Son you have reveled yourself as One who is with me in all that comes my way. Help me to find the One I seek in the negative as well as in the positive moments of this day. I ask this in the name of Jesus, my Lord.

Remembrance

Today I will remember the God is on my side.
