"A
writer once said that our lives are
an alphabet that the Spirit spells. Our days are the words, our weeks
the paragraphs, our months and years the chapters and volumes. As we
write our unique stories, a tale of the blending of divine and human
energies, we probe over and again the great mysteries hidden deep within
us all. What is important therefore is we are able to entrust ourselves
to the Divine Author Himself so that His saving plan may unfold in our
lives.
The BIBLE DIARY 2005 precisely enables readers to transform
a day into a unique story with the Lord. Through the daily scriptural
readings and insightful reflection we are given an opportunity to discover
God's saving message for us. As people stay at home, go to work or school
or undertake any endeavor, the nourishment that comes from the Word
of God is very vital and strengthening. It provides us with an enlightened
direction, a powerful drive and a broadening perspective.
It is my hope and prayer that more and more of our people
may value and relish the Word of God in their daily lives. It is a treasure
just at our finger tips, often missed out, but continuously offered
by God to us. I end with the words of the voice that inspired St. Augustine's
conversion: "Tolle lege!" (Take and read!) Take and read God's
word!
