Greeting 

Blessed be God the Father
who has reconciled us to himself by the obedience and love of his Son.
May the gift of God's salvation be with you all.

Introduction and Litany of Praise

Option A

Through Jesus, we have been reconciled with the Father.
Let us now call upon him
and acknowledge him as our Shepherd and our Savior.

Lord Jesus, you showed your love for us
when you died for us while we were still sinners:
Lord, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you have pity on those who are weary
and are like sheep without a shepherd:
Christ, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you sent your disciples with the power to forgive sins
and bring about healing:
Lord, have mercy.

 

Option B

Today's Gospel tells us about Jesus who had compassion on the people who came to him for help. He has compassion on us too. Therefore, let us now turn to him with confidence, and lay our needs before him.

Lord Jesus, you died to take away our sins.
Lord, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you are our peace and reconciliation.
Christ, have mercy.

Lord Jesus, you are the Shepherd who takes care of us.
Lord, have mercy.

Opening Prayer

Option A

God of the covenant,
you have made us a priestly and prophetic people,
living signs that the kingdom of heaven has come near.

Send us forth, then, into your abundant harvest,
so that by offering praise to you
and serving our brothers and sisters
we may fulfill our baptismal vocation
and be staunch witnesses to the Gospel of Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. AMEN.

Option B

To us sinners, O Lord of the harvest,
you entrust a share in the mission of Jesus,
who sent the twelve to cast out the spirit of evil
and to cure sickness and disease.

Place in our hearts the compassion of Jesus
and on our lips the good news of you kingdom,
that, with every word and deed,
we may give as a gift
what we have received as a gift. from you.

Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. AMEN

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

P        As God's holy people, called in different ways to spread the Good News of the kingdom, we place our needs before our Father who continues to care for us.

             With confidence we pray:

CM     Lord, fill us with your mercy. (Please repeat)

That Church leaders may have the heart of Christ the Good Shepherd
and attend to all who are weary and who hunger for the Word of God.
We pray:

That those suffering from injustice, poverty and sickness,
may find generous hearts who will assist them in their need. We pray:

For those who work to mediate conflicts and to reconcile the estranged.
that they may find strength in Christ who reconciled us to God. We pray:

May we be a people of joy and hope, bringing peace, forgiveness and a sense of purpose to our restless world. We pray.

For all of us gathered here: that when we feel lonely, unloved, rejected,
we may remember that in Christ we have a compassionate Brother and Friend. We pray:

P      Heavenly Father, the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.
        In your compassion hear us
        and help us to take part with joy in the spreading of your word.

Prayer over the Gifts

God of the powerless,
you have given us without payment
this bread and wine.

Look upon the face of Christ your Son,
who proved his love for us;
while we were yet sinners he died for us.
Now that we have been justified by his blood,
we shall be saved by him
who lives and reigns with you for ever and ever. AMEN.

Invitation to the Lord’s Prayer

Let us now, as God's holy people, join in the Prayer of Jesus
as we sing / say:
Our Father ...

Deliver us Lord

Deliver us Lord, from every evil
and grant us peace in our day.
Free us from our pride
which prevents us from recognizing our inner poverty.
Help us to be more faithful to your covenant
and to listen to your voice
as we wait in joyful hope
for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your disciples:
"The reign of God is at hand!
Cure the sick… heal the leprous."
Look not on our sins
but on the faith of your Church,
and grant us a share in your healing power
and the peace and unity of your kingdom,
where you live for ever and ever.

The peace of the Lord be always with you.

Exchange of Peace
Jesus has made our peace by his death on the cross.
Let us now greet each other in that peace.

P      Father, you have given us golden fields of wheat
        whose many grains
        we have gathered, milled, and made into this one bread.

        May we, the members of your Church,
        from north and south, from east and west
        be gathered into your kingdom.

Invitation to Communion

This is Jesus who died for us while we were still sinners.
Blessed are we who, through him, have been reconciled to the Father
and now live in his love.

Prayer after Communion

Compassionate Father,
we ask you to give us a heart
like that of Jesus the Good Shepherd
who invites us to minister
to those who are weary and in need of help.

Send us out as laborers to gather in your harvest
because the gift that we have received
is the gift we must give to others.
All this we ask in the name of Jesus the Lord. AMEN.

Solemn Blessing

May God bear you up on eagles wings. AMEN.

May God hold you in the palm of his hand. AMEN.

May God make you his special possession. AMEN.
